Isaac Regional Council is seeking a motivated Trades Assistant to join our Corporate Properties and Fleet team. This is your opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of vital community infrastructure across one of Queensland’s most diverse and resource-rich regions.
This position reports to the Team Leader – Trades Services and is responsible for assisting various Tradespersons with preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs across the Isaac Region. In this position, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team comprised of Carpenters, Electricians, Plumbers, Painter/Decorators and apprentices.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Trade Assistant - Corporate Properties, you will be required to:
- Assist tradespersons in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and fencing tasks.
- Support preventative and reactive maintenance across Council facilities.
- Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Help diagnose faults and assist in repairs using hand tools and test equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of work and report issues promptly.
- Contribute to project estimates and work programming
- Basic understanding of WHS regulations and safe work practices.
- A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
- The ability to pass pre-employment functional assessment
- Previous trades assistance experience (highly regarded).

- Salary: $66,300.67 per annum (Stream B Level 5) plus allowances, including:

- CPI Increase $1.35 per hour from 1 July 2025
- Full Time Hours: Nominally 38 hours over a 9 Day Fortnight
- Annual Leave: 5 weeks annual leave pro-rata @ 17.5% loading

ABOUT YOU
- Experience: Working with power tools and in outdoor or trade environments.
- Preferred Background: Experience in local government is advantageous but not essential
- Skills: Good interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Communication: Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Mandatory Requirements:
- A White Card - Construction Induction.
- A ‘C’ Class Open Australian Drivers Licence.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment functional test
- Willingness to obtain EWP and Forklift Licences if not already held
