The Opportunity

In this role, you will report to the Coordinator Bushcare and Biosecurity. and play an essential part in maintaining and restoring the bushland areas within Wingecarribee Shire, while collaborating with local volunteers to deliver meaningful conservation outcomes. You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and executing Bush Regeneration activities to protect and restore bushland areas.
  • Coordinating and managing volunteer working bee activities to ensure effective engagement and resource allocation.
  • Supervising and mentoring volunteers to achieve high-quality environmental outcomes on Council land.
  • Contributing to the objectives of the Environment and Climate Change Strategy and the Environment and Sustainability Branch Business Plan.
  • Ensuring compliance with Council policies, standards, and codes of practice in all activities.

What you need to succeed (Essential Criteria)

  1. A Certificate III in Conservation & Ecosystem Management (or equivalent), or relevant hands-on experience in a similar role.
  2. Proven Bush Regeneration Experience - Proficiency in the safe use of power tools and equipment such as chainsaws and brush cutters, as well as the application of chemicals for effective weed control.
  3. Technology Proficiency - Ability to effectively use mobile and desktop applications.
  4. Strong Customer Service & Volunteer Engagement Skills.
  5. Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) & Equal Employment Opportunity principles and practices.
  6. Current NSW Class C Driver's Licence, WHS Induction Card, Chainsaw 1 Certificate, AQF 3 Chemical Accreditation, and a current First Aid Certificate.
  7. A Current Working with Children's Check (WWCC).
  8. Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical check prior to commencement.
